For all my Trump-supporting friends out there…

You are my friends because I like you. You are interesting, you are intelligent and you are blinded by your rigid beliefs. If you trust me (and many of you won’t after this), there once was a man who was president. He was and is still a flim flam man.

Webster’s defines a flim flam man as “a criminal who steals money from people by tricking them…”

If we apply that to Donald Trump, what exactly has he stolen from YOU personally? He stole your common sense, he stole and continues to steal your money, he stole your belief we are all in this together, he stole your confidence in a governing system our fathers and grandfathers fought and died to defend.

I struggled for the longest time to understand your fanatical belief in this man despite the obvious lies, the treasonous relationships with the Russians, his contempt of anyone “beneath” him. No, he is not going to come to your house for supper and friendly conversation unless, of course, you give him a couple of million.

Frantz Fanon, the French philosopher and psychiatrist provided the only explanation I can find for your rigid support of this charlatan.

“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are
presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new
evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is
extremely uncomfortable, called
cognitive dissonance. And because it
is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize,
ignore and even deny anything that doesn’t fit in with the core belief.”
Frantz Fanon, Black Skin, White Masks

The January 6th House Committee continues to perform admirably in its efforts not to strip the emperor of his clothes, but to shine the harsh light of truth that he had never had clothes in his life. The seemingly unending march of White House staff finally dedicated to telling the truth rather than protecting the charlatan Donald Trump finally erodes the myth of what a great president he was.

Donald Trump stole from you. He gave you things you secretly desire. By his words and actions, he allowed you to…
